During my 4 week stint at the local university as an invigilator, I know that I will have very little time to paint, but I want to keep the blog active during this time. I have decided that it might be interesting to put together a collection of paintings of the same subject, so that it highlights the different approaches that I have used when tackling the same subject, and I hope that it will serve to fill the gap and that you will enjoy looking. This first one is all about my better 'Rose' paintings and for the following two posts I have chosen 'Hellebores' and 'Delphiniums'
'Windrush'
'Rushing Stream'
'Molineux'
'Rosa Salvation'
'Spring Roses'
'White Roses'
'Apricot Roses'
All glorious paintings Yvonne. You really have captured a very difficult subject.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ann. I have to just keep telling myself they are just shapes like everything else!
DeleteSuch a stunning collection, capturing Roses in watercolour for me has been the hardest bloom but you have them down pat
ReplyDeleteThank you, Lorraine. I am glad you enjoyed looking.
DeleteWhat a feast for the eyes!
ReplyDeleteThanks Polly. I am glad the selection is interesting.
DeleteLovely paintings Yvonne, I don't think I would even attempt such a difficult subject.
ReplyDeleteThanks Brenda. I think they seem complex because of the number of petals. I just take it a bit at a time.
Deletewhat lovely paintings, happiness for my eyes..........great and wonderful work!
ReplyDeletegreetings maria
Greetings, Maria. Glad you enjoyed the selection.
DeleteWhat a wonderful selection and an interesting variety of styles. They make a great study for anyone interested in painting blooms, ranging from the almost 'botanical study' to the lovely loose Spring Roses. Wherever they lie on the spectrum between the two you have added wonderful artistic touches that bring the images to life in a way that a purely scientific approach cannot do.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mick. I am p-leased that the selection has p[roved interesting. With regard to scientific approach, although I admire them enormously, botanical florals are not for me!
DeleteEspecially I like the second one's background. All are fantastic. I wish I could have a chance to see how you paint all these. congratulation!
ReplyDeleteThank you Midori. Glad you like the selection
ReplyDeleteWonderful paintings of roses. My favorite flower is rose, but it is always a challenge for me to paint it. I'll try your style of painting these flowers. I hope you continue painting roses.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Cora. I am sure Roses will always feature amongst my paintings, I have so many in the garden!
